My name is Danielle Ness. This is my second year teaching. I am so thrilled to be teaching fourth grade at Sunset Elementary! I had the opportunity to student teach and sub in the Issaquah school district before teaching at Sunset. Issaquah has been my home for seven years and I can’t imagine teaching anywhere else. I am very excited to be working with such enthusiastic students, parents, and staff.

I graduated from Western Washington University in December of 2006 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Science Education. I am beginning a Master’s and Professional Teaching Certificate program this fall. I look forward to continuing my education both formally and informally throughout my teaching career.

I have been married to my husband Kyle for two years now. We live in the Issaquah Highlands with our two cats Rajah and Tahoe. In our free time, my husband and I love to go boating, wakeboarding, camping, hiking, snowmobiling, play tennis, and travel. We just came home from a six week backpacking trip through Europe!

This year the students will see my passion for art, photography, scrapbooking, and dance! I also love listening to all types of music. I believe music is important in the classroom, and I try to incorporate it into my students' learning. In my classroom, I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect. I work hard to build a sense of community among the students, and I emphasize the idea of teamwork.

I value cooperation and collaboration both in my classroom and with my colleagues. I believe that great things can happen when we work together! Sunset is a place where I really feel like part of a strong community and part of a winning team.
