Assignments for Students Who Go on Vacations While School is in Session

During the year, we are frequently asked to prepare work for students who will be missing school to go on family vacations.  Due to the frequency of these requests.  We sometimes find that it takes a considerable amount of time away from preparing for that students who will be in school.   We therefore would appreciate you help in providing activities for your children while they are absent that will reinforce what they have learned

Rather than giving each parent an individualized packet of materials to work on with their child during their absence, we would like to suggest that you consider some of the following activities:  

• a pictorial or written journal of interesting sights and events

• a map study of the area visited

• a ledger of expenses incurred during the trip

• a scrapbook of postcards, pamphlets, pictures of things found in the area you'll be visiting

•  2-3 books from the school library, your library or bookstore to practice their reading.

• math flash cards drills

• skill level practice books

• creating a dictionary of travel words
