June 2, 2008 Dear Parents,
We have many activities and events coming up these last few weeks of school. We are continuing with our Pioneer Unit which includes integrating our reading, writing, and art with our social studies topic.
As you know we will be going to Pioneer Farms in Eatonville, Washington on Tuesday, June 17th from 8:40a.m. to 3:40 p.m. Hopefully we will make it back in time to catch the buses home.
We have also had Mr. Outcalt in to do a series of five lessons for Junior Achievement.
There are lots of upcoming activities: · Volunteer Luncheon, Wednesday, June 4th (your childs lunch time 11:45 a.m.) · Junior Achievement, Wednesday, June 4th & 11th a.m. · Mary Watson Art, Wednesday, June 11th, at 10:15 a.m. · Field Day, Thursday, June 12th 1:30-3:00 pm (I need three parents to volunteers to help with activities) · Signature Project Assembly, Friday, June 13th Assembly 9:30 a.m. · Summer Reading Program, Monday, June 16th at 2:35 p.m. · Pioneer Farms, Tuesday, June 17th 8:40 a.m. 3:40 p.m. · End of the Year Assembly, Thursday, June 19th 10:00 to 11:25.
Our reading and writing will continue to integrate with our curriculum units. We still need to develop skills in writing a narrative five paragraph essay and will also be writing letters to next years new third graders. As you can see we still have lots to do these last few days of school. Thank you to "all" who: helped in the classroom, graded papers or math journals, volunteered for field trips, planned parties or supplied refreshments, presented art lessons or Junior Achievement, helped your child grow and become more independent. It has been a great year!
Sincerely, Rosemary McPhail |
